Lauryn Hill and Levi's(R) Jeans Team Up to Bring the Worldwide 'Miseducation Tour' Back to the U.S.
The Singer as Clothing Designer
Not only is Ms. Hill an acknowledged leader in hip-hop's evolution, she has been a fashion trendsetter. Her association with Levi's(R) goes beyond the standard artist/sponsor relationship. Prior to embarking on the tour in February of 1999, Ms. Hill sat down with Levi's(R) design team to create a tour wardrobe. Produced exclusively for Ms. Hill's performances, the styles were such a big hit with fans that Levi's(R) is making select pieces available to consumers this Fall. In partnership with Ms. Hill, Levi's(R) will design a new clothing collection exclusively for her to wear on tour this summer.
"It was cool to partner with Levi's(R) to create a wardrobe that speaks to what I'm all about. I took my inspiration from the past, like Bob Marley, Al Green and other classic soul artists and gave them my own touch," says Ms. Hill. The collection features items crafted in high quality fabrics such as buttery lamb leather, soft khaki twills and rinsed denims.
